Child Support Estimator
The Utah guideline figure from both parents' incomes and the custody arrangement, worked the way the statute works it.
An estimate, not an order. This runs the formulas in Utah Code §§ 81-6-204 to -207 against the tables in §§ 81-6-304 and -305, current as of September 2026. The court's own worksheet and the Office of Recovery Services calculator are authoritative. Where cases are actually fought is the inputs: what counts as income, whether income should be imputed, and the overnight count.
What to have ready
- Both parents' gross monthly income before tax, from all sources (§ 81-6-203). Year-to-date pay stubs and last year's return.
- The overnight count. Sole, joint, and split custody use different worksheets (§§ 81-6-205 to -207); 111 or more overnights with each parent changes the math.
- Health insurance premium for the children and work-related child care, which are shared on top of base support (§§ 81-6-208, -209).
